This isn't an easy post to write, but after careful thought, I've made the decision to close down BoojaHub (a reddit-like community for shopping & savings). It's a painful step, and honestly, it feels like a failure – but sometimes, those tough calls are where the biggest lessons come from. Here's why we're moving on:
🛠️ Resource Constraints: We've reached a point where we can't keep up with BoojaHub's development or daily operations, like content moderation and payouts. Our team needs to be able to focus on what's manageable and impactful.
💸 Unsustainable Costs: With the expenses required to keep BoojaHub live – including hosting and infrastructure – it no longer makes sense to keep pouring resources into a project that isn't aligned with our core direction.
⏳ Increased Workload: As our priorities evolve, we have to be strategic about where we invest our time and energy. Right now, BoojaHub doesn't fit into our broader goals.
⚙️ Technical Challenges: The Lemmy + Django stack has proven to be more complex than expected. Rather than getting bogged down and risking development burnout, we're choosing to refocus on a more straightforward, sustainable path.
Looking ahead, we'll be channeling our efforts into Odoo as a service, with a particular focus on the construction industry (as you may have noticed with our socials). With our strengths in Python, this will allow us to make a real impact in a niche we're excited to specialize in.
To everyone who supported BoojaHub – thank you. This hasn't been an easy decision, but it's the right one to position our team for future success. Here's to new directions, hard-earned lessons, and fresh opportunities ahead.
