Disaffiliation would probably require the federal NDP to change its constitution – opening a whole new forum for opponents to publicly relitigate the divorce.

    There are a lot of politically-homeless centrists in Alberta. Many, especially the older ones, can’t bring themselves to vote NDP. This could be a way to broaden their appeal. Because let’s face it, left-leaning voters have no alternative.
