I’m re-reading glen cook’s black company series. Read em before, years ago, but happily my memory is shit and they almost fell like new again. Also reading summer of blood by Dan Jones, history of the peasants revolt.

I’d probably contribute to something like that.
I’d give it a go.
So these are a bit old - like the 60s - so there are a few bits that feel a bit wrong in 2024. But not many, and they’re otherwise great. You mentioned anime, these books are from one of those comic strips you used to get in the back pages of newspapers. Comic guy wrote the books, they’re very easy to read, the characters are vivid, lots of fun. Just cos stuff is old doesn’t mean it’s shit, give em a try.
Non fiction wise, I think I’ve read enough plague history books for now so I’m reading summer of blood by Dan Jones about the peasants’ revolt.
Fiction wise, I’m just starting re-eading Glenn Cook’s black company. I’ve read the series before but was years ago and must have been wasted then because i only remember the gist and that I enjoyed them. Also grunts by Mary gentle, and notes on the culture by iain m Banks. Never read it before, fucking shame that bloke is dead.
Yeah I been re reading hydrogen sonata, good shit. I like matter best tho I think. If you’ve not read them yet you might also like the algebraist and transition.
Yeah I read those Ian McDonald books way back and they’re about ready for a re-read, enjoy!
