Can I point out the UK BS1363 (type G) plug is the only one you can use to open a bottle of beer.
I’m not sure what that says about the UK.

The ring main was the impetus for it. However it allows for safe down rating at the plug. My lamps don’t need 13A flex. If the only safety system is a 13A breaker, then you’re stuck with it, or risking a cable overload
We also have a highly developed sense of sarcasm. 😁
The fuse offers per device protection, as well as per room/area.
E.g. you have a lamp that draws 1A. It’s cable is rated for 3A. It has a malfunction and starts drawing 10A. This won’t pop a breaker, but will overload the cable. Eventually it could catch fire from overheating. If it has a 3A slow blow fuse, it will kill the fuse before it kills the cable.
It also helps to isolate problems rapidly to 1 device.
If you want one to truly make you wimper, look up the poem “the chaos”. 😈
The f word is also stupidly flexible for a single word. It can basically be used in any place in a sentence. "F*** you, you FING Fwit is a clear concise sentence in practical English.
It also doesn’t help that the language gets thoroughly abused. "Literally " meaning both literally and figuratively is one of the more egregious misuses.
As for the question.
“F off” means “go away”.
“Fed over" means you got scammed, taken advantage of, abused, or did really badly. Basically the wrong end of a bad situation. E.g. "Mark quit his job without notice, I got completely fed over doing his work, along with mine.”
“Fed up" means you made a mistake (generally a big one). E.g. "I fed up today. I accidentally knocked over a display of cans at work. It took me hours to restack them.”
Rich is having lots of money. Wealthy is having a lot of passive income. In practice, the 2 are similar. A rich person can invest, and so become wealthy. A wealthy person is often rich. It’s possible to only be 1 however. E.g. Someone with a large property portfolio would be wealthy, but not necessarily rich.
This is one of the powers of the English language. We have a ridiculous number of pseudonyms. They have similar meanings, but vary subtly. This allows us to express ideas with a lot more granularity than a lot of other languages.
I’d definitely be the annoying shit on that one. I would insist on proper PPE for the environment. If the smokers in the team want to handle it without PPE, that’s entirely on them.
It’s also worth noting the smoking rooms are effectively empty, except for lights and some seats. Most staff can avoid it entirely.
I’ve seen them done well in airports. They have additional extraction and filtering. They are also kept at a negative pressure, so the smoke doesn’t roll out whenever someone opens the door.
I’ve no issues with what people want to put into their bodies. I only take offence when others are forced to be exposed to it.
A fair point, but ours is practically a bottle opener. A lot easier after a few previous bottles.
