I don’t understand how people get these ideas, except that they live on a diet of propaganda. Conservatives never help anyone except themselves.
Poilievre’s Conservatives are an awful option and will only further harm the country. But they are winning the propaganda war at the moment, with many people somehow convinced they have something to offer. It’s the usual right-wing fearmongering and scapegoating as a distraction from real issues they have no plan or intention to address. But once the right wing media machine starts to do its work it’s hard to see others catching back up again.
I agree, reducing meat consumption is all heading in a helpful direction. But I do get a bit irritated by how every mention of the word “vegan” triggers someone to pop up saying “Here’s why I’m not a vegan.” It seems defensive, irrelevant, and a bit self-centred. So I wouldn’t assume all the downvotes reflect vegan purism.
It’s important information but not really a very beautiful or useful way of presenting it.
Educated sociopaths do.
It looks like Poilievre’s Conservatives will win the next election, and he has shown repeatedly that he’s willing to court the far right whenever it serves him. Having a PM who associates with fascists will certainly send the message that Canada is dealing with the far right, but not in the sense we hoped for.
This is the first I’ve heard of it, but apparently Canada’s Conservatives are interested. Conservatives always seem to have an ear out for the worst ideas from each other.
I hope not, but conservative bad ideas do seem highly contagious.
But in a society where no one but the wealthiest can afford to own property, does it still make sense for its value to continue to appreciate, putting it further and further out of reach until everyone is renting from corporations who own the housing stock, except those born into wealth?
It’s crazy that it’s up to individuals whether they can afford to have their relatives buried. It should be one of the first basic things a civilized country takes care of.
This is in Canada so US law is irrelevant. And your “fat” thing is a bit offensive.
For most of Ontario, voting at all would be a step in the right direction.
Anyone have a non-paywalled link?
Conservatives.
There are some decent left-wing channels on YouTube, but you won’t see recommendations for them unless you have a history of watching stuff like that. Google knows about my political leanings because they watch everything I do, so I see left-wing content in my recommendations. By default though they are far more likely to recommend right-wing rubbish.
I don’t understand why the NDP don’t do better in elections. It astonishes me that Canadians won’t vote for the only party with any real will to address the problems that affect them daily. Do people really think the Conservatives have the best interests of the common people at heart?
A person can be proud of their Jewish identity and treat it as very important without supporting Israel’s government. It’s not a question of whether you’re “a Jew first”, though Netanyahu and his ilk might want us to think so.
And the same public that’s suffering from this price gouging is about to vote them in nationally. I don’t understand people.
Hmm. It would be interesting to see a chart of this compared to their prices over the same period.
They understand beer. They don’t understand science. They don’t particularly like people who do.
