  • I got myself an eReader from Kobo mostly for the Pocket integration.

It’s nice just scanning for potentially interesting articles and submit them to my Pocket account while I’m on the computer, and settle down to read the articles cleared from distraction and junk on a paper-like display before going to bed, or while riding the bus to work since it’s all synced up for offline use.

There’s another 20ish communities on lemmy.ml you’ve been banned from at the same time for the same reason.

That behavior is simply a fix for a federation issue, where banning a remote user instance-wide doesn’t block the user from posting in these community (although the post or comment will never leave the user’s home instance without letting the user know about it).

As a workaround, an instance ban from a remote user will also ban the user from communities they participated in on that instance to avoid this oversight. One of the quirks from Lemmy that will be fixed at some point.

On the ban reason, you likely ruffled the feathers of the instance admin, who is quick to ban for any perceived criticism of communism…

  • To me the sexist part is that some doctors will treat a man asking for a vasectomy vs a woman asking for a ligature differently?

Oh you want a vasectomy? Let’s get into my office. 10 minutes later and its done. No fuss, no speech.

Oh you want a ligature? But your potential partner might want kids, it would be unfair… 🙄

I’m sure most wishes to do no harm and want to ensure their patients are well-informed and can weight the consequences of that choice (which in itself is a good thing), but they should offer the same level of inquiry to both to be fair, not just assume that a man knows more that they don’t want kids compared to a woman.
